Today Clint Krislov posted the state’s Bright Start Settlement with Oppenheimer from December 19, 2009. The settlement stems from losses of Bright Start investments in Oppenheimer’s Core Bond fund. The settlement agreement was unavailable to the public until the Treasurer’s office was forced to release it after a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was filed.
“We shouldn’t need a FOIA request to get information to the 185,000 Illinois families who lost money in this fund” says Krislov. “This is why we created the Center for Open Government!”
While Mr. Krishnamoorthi talks about transparency, Krislov is actually doing something.
